Well everyone I know I´ve been terrible at writing every week but I think that I deserve to finish my last week in the mission with my last email. This past week has already been hard thinking about saying goodbye, I can´t imagine how hard it´s going to be when it actually comes.

On Sunday I was given the opportunity to give a talk. I used the story of the seminary teacher who has a student do ten pushups for each person in the class for a donut. Its a comparison of Christ´s sacrifice of The Atonement. It´s a super powerful story and I recommned all of you who haven´t read it to read it now!! Anyway, I have changed in many ways throughout my mission (almost all for the better) and suprisingly one of those changes is that I don´t become a crying mess when I get up to bear my testimony or teach. I still feel the Spirit just as strong but I´m able to hold it in more. :)

This past week, my companion and I were able to see how the Lord works and prepares the hearts of His children. The mom of a young recent convert that we teach, for the first time showed real interest to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet and asked us with sincerity how she could know for herself. Mirta, one of our investigators who was a reference from a member in the branch, confided in us enought to tell us why it was hard for her to come to church. Through the guidance of the Spirit we were able to help her and on Sunday she CAME! I am grateful that my Heavenly Father is letting se a few more miracles before I have to leave.

Soooo here it is... The truth is its really scary and sad to know that I will be ending one chapter in my life and opening up a new one. But what the mission has taught me is that I will never go back to being the person I was before I served a mission. I am grateful for all the things I have been able to learn and what the mission and others have taught me. I now know what I need to do and how I can do it! I have learned that the most important thing in this life is the Gospel and I wouldn´t have chosen any other way to spend this past year and a half of my life. Even though my mission wasn´t the most normal and there were bumps and obstacles all along the way, I wouldn´t have wished it to be any other way. I know that throughout my time in the mission I have been able to be led and guided by my Heavenly Father and by letting Him guide me I have been able to see His hand, feel His presence, and become even more close to Him. I am eternally grateful for this precious time that I´ve had to serve and I can´t wait to serve Him for the rest of my life!

The Gospel is so good and the church is so true! Nos vemos pronto!

Hello Everyone!! 

I testify of my last email that Villa Gesell really is the promised land! This past week, my companion and I were able to find and teach 8 new investigators! And out of those 8 people, almost all of them are families that the spouses are married! A true MIRACLE! Never in my mission have I with my companions been able to find and teach this many people! I know that God already has His children prepared, we just need to find them! And be willing to open our mouths and testify! The mission has been a good practice for me in that aspect lol. Just like it says in Doctrine and Covenants 4. The field is WHITE and ready to HARVEST! 

Breaking news from this week:

My companion and I were taken in a police truck to be witnesses of boys with drugs...

And we´re MOVING APARTMENTS THIS WEEK! By next Monday we´ll all be settled in!

Helloo Everyone!! 

For mothers day, I had transfers! Hermana Olson left and now I am with Hermana Juarez from Lima, Peru. I absolutely love her! She is so great and I have so much to learn from her! I am so excited to work! And we are getting down to it, while also laughing our heads off all day. For both my companion and I, Villa Gesell, or the coast has become our promised land, and not just for all the sand lol. Just this week we have talked to so many people who are so ready to accept the gospel its crazy! Just this week we found and taught this mom, who now has a baptismal date for the 4th of June. There will be more people to talk about next week! Let the adventure begin! Love  you all have a great week!

Helloo!!

This has been a crazy week but we have seen miracles in the tiniest of ways. These past few weeks we have felt like none of our investigators haven´t been progressing and we really just wanted to find new people that we could teach that were ready to accept the gospel. And this week we found two new investigators to teach! One is a 29 year old mom who really wanted to learn more and the best part is that we are almost sure that she´s already married!! The other one came as a huge suprise! We got a couple from the branch to come with us for a lesson with a 13 year old, recent convert, who is the only member in his family. But, to our amazement, his mom listened to us the missionaries for the first time ever!  It was the greatest because the couple, who have been members for about a year were able to bear testimony and help clear up the doubts that she had! Crazy miracle and a confirming moment for me that Heavenlt Father makes it possible for family members to unified in the gospel! Eternal Families are real and they are possible, in every family! 

Today, for Pday we went to the beach and had a picnic and built sandcastles in the freezing cold! Pictures with be attached below!

While on my last exchange with Hna Orgill, we thought of something like this.. "I know who I am and I know where I´m going!" I love this because the Gospel is the most important thing in my life and I will be forever grateful for the gospel and its saving power in my life! I know it is the only way to true happiness! We couldn´t get through this life without a loving Heavenly Father!

Hello Everyone!

This week as crazy!! Like every week where in the mission but this week we spent half of it traveling to the area right next to ours, Pina Mar to pick up an hermana, Hermana Ramierz and to go to doctor´s appointments. But we were still able to work with my partner in crime, Hna Olson!!

I LOVED conference this weekend. It was so powerful and I kept getting repeated confirmations that God literally speaks through His prophets and what they said is what God wanted to tell us and what we needed to hear!! As a missionary conference is even better than Christmas! It was a bittersweet moment for me because this was the last conference that I´d watch in the mission and the last time watching it in spanish in a forgein country! But I know that the Spirit can answer the questions of so many people all across the world and in every language! Because thats what happened to me! We are leaded and guided every step of the way with a loving Heavenly Father! How blessed are we?!

Wanted to share a quote I read from the talk of Elder Bednar from the last conference in October! Visiting with Elder Hales, he said,

¨When you cannot do what you have always done, then you only do what matters most.¨ -Elder Robert D. Hales

I love that quote because I have learned that THE MOST important thing in my life is The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing else really matters, it is all temporary but the Gospel, with its principles and promises are eternal! Let us all live for God!! Love you all and have a great week!

Happy late Easter everyone!!

We spent it getting soaked by the rain! We had just left lunch and we were on our bikes and it started drizzing. We didn´t want that to get us down so we kept going looking for people. It started raining harder and harder and we were getting super wet! We had not anticipated rain for that day so we brought nothing! We didn´t want to go home defeated form the rain so we kept looking for people to teach and knocking on doors. We thought that people would have mercy on us, but kept slamming their doors, and more rejection. We finally stopped by a members house who gave us shelter and warm towels for a few minutes so we could dry off! Miracle!

This week we´ve also had all the dogs from Villa Gesell attacking us! So I´ve been living with a constat heart attacks... I can now put scared of dogs on the list of things that I´m scared of. One even got my comp and bit her skirt! Luckily that was the only thing! Its us against the dogs!

Last Pday was a blast from America! We played volleyball on the beach, went to get Mcdonalds, and then got waffles! It was seriously heavenly.

This Easter I have felt my testimony grow of my Savior. Jesus Christ. I know He lives. I know that what he did is real and it can work for us in our lives at any moment. Nothing I can ever do or say can truly thank him but I know that I will forever be indebted to him. I´m a mormon! And if that makes me crazy for it, then call me crazy. I love this Gospel and know that it is true! Love you all! Believe in Him and His healing power!

Holaa Everyone!!

This week was pretty much amazing! We were blessed so much this week with lots of work and lots of SUCCESS! The first miracle was that one of our investigators, Karen, we thought that she moved to a different province in Argentina, but it turned out that she didn´t move and we were able to find her and her mom together for the first time ever and were able to teach them both and set a bautismal date for Karen!

Then on Sunday night, at a family home evening that we had at the church, we found the most perfect family! Or it´s better to say that the family found us! So we had gotten there late because we were out far at a lesson and we were trying to get the recent converts and investigators to the activity. With little luck and feeling discouraged, we went to the activity Locking up our bikes, we saw a young couple with a little baby girl stumpling around slowly outside the church. Something told me to lock the bikes quickly and talk to them and thats exactly what I did. We invited them in and they gladly accepted! They stayed for the whoel activity and loved it! They even participated and converesed with the members!! During the activity, I talked to the mom, Marisol about The Book of Mormon and the pamphlet of the Restoration. As I talked to her and gave her the books she looked at me as if I had given her a billion dollars. The smile and happiness on her face was undeniable and the Spirit confirmed to me so strong that this family was going to accept the Gospel. We got their address and their phone number and they want us to come visit them soon! After they left, I cried of joy. I had wanted to find a family here in the mission, but they had found me. I know that God put all of us there at that moment so that we could invite them in becuase I know that they were truly looking and in need for the gospel.

 The Church is so true, God really is at the head of this work, and The Spirit does guide us to the people that need the Gospel. I know it and I love this work so much, it can´t be compared to anything else!

Hello Everyone!

These past two weeks have truly been amazing! We had the chance to listen to Elder David A. Bednar last Wednesday. We were so close, on the second bench in the front of the church! I felt the Spirit so strong, it was so undeniable and I know without a doubt that he is an apostle of the Lord. He was also super hilarious and didn´t stand up and lecture us the whole time. It was more like a chat of answering questions and the bearing of testimonies. He incorporated all of us and so we were all the teachers. My stud of a companion even stood up infront of thousands of missionaries  and answered a question from Elder Bednar. It was the best day ever. The Spirit was able to answer some of my questions while other missionaries asked questions. About the worries of family at home or less active family members Elder Bednar said.. "Our absence is better than our presence at home."  "Keep your covenants! It brings the most power to your families."

He also mencioned how we as sisters need to worry a little less and that the elders should worry a lot more. It was so funny. But its true, we are too hard on ourselves, and sometimes for no reason.

My fellow MTC sisters and I were also able to be reunited!! All seven of us were there, since the split of our missions last July. It was soo nice to see old friends again and all of us back together!! :)

This week we´ve been working like crazy finding people! And its been paying off!! We found 2 new investigators in one week, which is like unheard of here in the coast. Every day God literally leads us to where we need to go and when. And when necessary, he sends people to lead us. That truly happened this week. We found a lady that actually lead us to the house that we were looking for. Small miracles are happening everyday but they make such a huge difference! THIS IS GOD´S WORK! I love it!!!  The Church is so true and the gospel is so good!

Hello Everyone!! 

This week Hermana Olson and I have worked really hard! Sometimes its hard to see the progress because it is a vacation town and a lot of people come and go but the Lord has been able to help us with the work here and give us tiny, but HUGE miracles! 

This has been a week of finding! We have been able to find the houses of 3 different references from only their street name. I know that only a loving Heavenly Father could have led us to all of the right houses in one day! I know that God works through His Holy Ghost and that we are given more promptings and more guidance than we think. And if we just act and show a particle of faith we will be able to recieve even more guidance and divine help from above. 

But BIG NEWS Elder Bednar is coming to Buenos Aires to speak to all the missionaries here and I am sooo excited!! For me now, listening to the apostles is better than Christmas. Im so excited to be instructed by one of the Lords servants! 

God is so good and the Gospel is so true!

Hello Everyone!!

This week has been crazy becuase just as I had settled in, we got a call from the mission offices that my companion had to do paperwork for her id in Buenos Aires! And I was to travel an hour to Pinamar to be companions with HERMANA RAMIERZ! I was sad that we had to leave our area a couple of days but so happy that we got to be companions again, if just for a few days!! It was Hermana Ramierzs one year anniversary so we decided to go and find a Mexican Resturant from a flyer that was in her apartment. We find the place, we order our tacos and the owner gave us free chips and salsa, and then we bought a ton of ice cream. Just as we were finishing eating the tacos, we get a call from the sister asking where we were for lunch. We assumed it was canceled since we called and called all morning with no response. So we left and went to lunch, after being so full from tacos!! But I had a blast and we were able to work really hard and visit the best families!!! I forgot to bring my camera they are memories that I will never forget!

When we left Saturday morning for Villa Gesell, our bus broke down but we finally made it back!! We worked hard this weeked and our hard work paid off! One of our investigators, Raquel came to church! She is the sweetest, gave me a present the first time I met her, and is the biggest hippy Ive ever seen!  

Everyday is craziness here in the coast! But I love it here! It is so beautiful and there is lots of potencial! I starting to love the people here and I cant wait to help them come to know Christ so that they can have the blessings of this sweet and perfect Gospel!!

I don´t have too much time to write today, but I just wanted to say that I´ve been transfered to the coast, in Villa Gesell. And I´m half training (or the step mom) of Hna Olson from Washington State!! It was sooo hard for me to leave Quilmes because I love our investigadors, members, and our recent convert, Nahir so much but I know that our leaders of the church, espcieally our mission president, President Nuñez recieves revalation and inspiration from God and truly do His will. I know that God has called me here because I have a lot more work to do and Im ready to work HARD! Love you all, more info and pics to comeee. :) 

Helloo Everyone!! 

It has been a crazy but wonderful week here in hotttt Argentina!!! Besides dying from the heat we were able to go to the temple last Tuesday!! It was very much needed! And I know with all my heart that it is truly the House of The Lord and that it is the only place where we can be a little bitt closer to Heaven and be totally cut off from the world. It is a holy place of answers, peace, and without any pain or tempation. It was 8 months too long for me without the temple, and I encourage all of you to go! Today! RIght now! lol. 

Today is kinda a crazy, bitersweet day for me because a year ago today I was on a plane heading home from a broken foot! I can´t believe its already been a year and it has been the craziest, fastest, and hardest year of my life (so far). A year ago I thought that I would never be able to finish my mission let alone finish it in Argentina!! Unexpected changes happen, changes that aren´t part of our plans. But I have learned that "His ways aren´t our ways" like it says in the scriptures and that if we let God take control of our lives he will ALWAYS lead us in the direction and the path that we need to go. His plans are PERFECT!!

Hello Everyone!

       I know remember why I dreaded the summer here. Just like las summer, We are dying from the heat. What makes it worse is that there is so much humidity. I can never stop sweating. I can now say that I am grateful for the Arizona heat.

        But other than the weather I can say that I truly am super happy to be a missionary. We are working harder than ever, and that work is paying off because we found 3 new people to teach just this past week! And we have a whole family, the Andia´s who are going to get married and be baptized the weekend of the 5th of Feb! We are doing everything we can to plan their wedding and baptism to make it the most special weekened for them. Its been rough to see them struggle financially but they don´t let that affect them, and they truly rely, trust, and find pure happiness in Christ and in the Gospel. They are such big examples to me and I love them so much. I love being a missionary because I get to see first hand how the Lord works, strengthens, and carries His children every step of the way once they decide to follow Him. I know that it is not an easy thing to follow and to trust fully in Christ, but it is the only way to complete and everlasting happiness. Here´s a quote that I loved from the Ensign from this past General Conference...

"The joy we experience in this life will be in direct proportion to how well our lives are centered on the teachings, example, and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ."

I know this quote to be sooo true!! It wasn´t for coincidence that in the zone meeting with all the missionaries, my companion and I taught about finding motivation to keep moving on in the mission. The only solution we came up with was our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that a life centered in Christ is eternal joy, nothing else. I know it and I have felt the powers of it in my life. He is the only source of comfort, joy, peace, and confidence during times of tribulation and the good times! I invite all of you to keep Christ in the center of your lives, and if not, to make him the center. Because with Christ at the center we will never be led astray. Love you all!

Merry Christmas Everyone!! I hope everyone had a good one and that everoyne was able to watch "A Savior is Born"!! I can´t believe this was my second Christmas in Argentina! A lot different from the first but super special! 

On Christmas Eve, a few of the missionaries and I, participated in a missionary choir! We performed in Quilmes and then we got to ride in President´s car to La Plata to perform there too!! It was so fun to see Hermana Ramirez, (my first companion back in the mission) again after so long! The concerts really brought in the Chrsitmas Spirit and lifted all of our spirits as missionaries!! 

Later that evening we ate dinner with a family from Peru (in the ghetto) and then we got back to the pench to watch fireworks. We stayed up till midnight like little kids, and man was that hard, but at 12:00 on the dot the sky literally lit up! There were so many fireworks we didn´t know where to take pictures! Our view is literally the best and I can´t wait for new years because there will be even more! Argentina sure knows fireworks!

On Christmas we spent the whole day, literally from morning to night with a family in the ward from Bolivia, The Rodriguez´s. They fed us breakfast and then we had lunch of hot dogs from Chile with avacado and tomato, and brownies with ice cream! And then for dinner we had turkey, salad, and corn!!! And then another dessert of pumpkin pie!! It was like I was at home with all the American food!! The Rodriguez´s made me feel even more at home because they even went out of their way and bought me a little cactus!! They are honestly the best and did everything so that we could have the best Christmas! It was diffentley a Christmas I will never forget!! Christ was born and He lives again!! The Church is so true and the Gospel is so sweet!

Hello Family! 

So this week has been literally CRAZY! And a lot has happened and I don´t have long to write but I´ll just give ya´ll the high lights!! 

Last week I wrote how we are the hotel for the hermanas and it is soo true!! We had two sisters stay with us Wednesday night and another sister Thursday till today. We are always in trios and it is so fun! 

We have two investigators with baptismal dates coming up really really soon! For December 12th and we have already seen the Christmas miracles because the two women have completely accepted Christ in their lives and want more than anything to be baptized and to follow Christ. That includes giving up smoking and all other bad habbits for the Gospel! I seriously learn more than them then they learn from me! 

We had a super massive family home evening with all our investigators, seriously like 6 of them that are all progressing. It was the most powerful experience ever. They all shared their testimonies and how the Gospel has literally changed their lives. They are all so strong and they are a blessing in my life. This work is the sweetest. 

I have a funny story and a scary one too: 

 So we were teaching our investigator, the one with the date and we were outside at her table when all of a sudden I felt something really warm on my leg! I looked down and saw that her dog was peeing on my leg! In shock, I pushed him away and kindly asked to go to the bathroom. It was suoer disgusting but we all laughed about it later. The mission is for firsts times for everything! 

On Saturday night after planning, I started to feel a ton of pressure in my chest and it hurt to breathe. This went on for hours without letting up and so I called the mission nurse and from there called Hermana Nunez. The next night they took me to the hospital, President and Hermana Nunez and luckily I didn´t have anything serious, just a virul infection in my lungs! All they did for me was give me a shot and tell me to rest. Which is almost impossible in the mission and hard too! But luckily I am feeling much better!! 

So I´ve seen and been though a little bit of everything this week! I love this time that I have to be a missionary and I would´nt trade it for the world. The Church is so true and the Gospel is so sweet. Take care everyone!! Love you all!! 

Hi Everyone! 

So I´m still alive and in Argentina!! I´ve been so bad that I haven´t been writing weekly emails, theres just literally not enough time on P-days. But let me give ya´ll a run down on these past couple of months!

I´m in Quilmes now, or beer city, because of the huge beer factory that the city and the beer is named after. But it´s great here I´m really starting to like it and the members here are fantastic! 

About a month ago, my investigators, Carlos and Angelica, the ones who got married, got BABPTIZED! They were baptized the weekend after I got transfered out of Romero but my mission president let my new companion and I, Hermana Flores come back for their baptism. It was amazing and the sweetest experience to have watched them grow through every step. I have seen their lives change, and I know it is only possible through the Gospel. I can´t wait to be there for the next and biggest step in their lives when they are sealed in the temple! Yay eternal families!

My companion and I have been working super hard in our area but whats super funny is that we always end up in temporary trios! They call our apartment the hotel for the sisters because we´re always having sisters coming in for doctors appointments, passport stuff, etc, because we are the closest sisters to the mission office. I absolutely love it. I get to spend time and get to know so many sisters. It´s so fun. 

The Church is so true and the Gospel is so good!

Hola Everyone! 

This week was pretty much the best week that I´ve had in Argentina because our investigators, Carlos and Angi got married! After a year and a half of pushing it off and dissapointing missionaries, we were finally the ones that got them to the altar! They got married Friday, and so that morning we got to their house early to get Angi all ready. We did her hair and makeup and she looked gorgeous! Carlos looked all studly in his suit and just their closest family came and we all left for the courthouse in Abasto! The marriage ceremony was really fast but after they exchanged rings, I had never seen them so happy. It was the cutest thing and I was sooo glad that I was able to be there for them on their special day. Afterwards we came back to their house and had the biggest BBQ ever. (Sorry dad but Argentina has you beat on the meat its so dang good). But we´re also going to have a wedding reception in the church for them this Friday since they didn´t get the chance to have one the day they got married. Now we just need to get them to the baptismal font! 

Tuesday we went looking for a reference that we had recieved from a member about a month ago. Well we finally find her and she just lets us straight into her house. I immediately feel so comfortable with her and such a strong spirit and then we start talking about the family because running through her house were her five little kids! She loved everything we had to say and when we asked if she would be baptized she said yes! It was the very first time we met her too! It is truly a testimony builder to me that The Lord is always preparing His children, we are just the instruments that find and teach, The Holy Ghost does the rest!

Oh and thanks for all the Birthday emails! Ah tomorrow I turn the big 21! This has been the fastest and craziest year of my life! (so far)

Hola everyone! 

I heard from someone that being a missionary is just huge version of ding dong ditch. I never really understand that statement until now! We spent many days this week, Hermana Winfield and I searching for many references and contacts that the members had given to us or past missionaries had made in our area! Becuase the poeple here don´t have numbers on thier houses, we just have street numbers, so it is just a huge guessing game, or in the mission world, chances to share the gospel with everyone helps us or gives us directions. So it turned out that the 15 names we had at the beginning, doubled only because we were trying to look for houses, so thank you Argentina for maiking it easier on us to spread the gospel! 

Tuesday, we had a going away party for Edith Lopez, who left to serve her mission this week in Paraguay! We met at Hermana Graciela´s house and literally had a feast and we all wrote her little notes to take with her to read during her mission. I was sad to see her go because she helps us out so much, but like with every missionary, The Lord needs her in Paraguay! 

This Sunday was absolutley amazing because we had stake conference, but it was a broadcast from Salt Lake. Elder Cook, Elder Hales, and Sister Marriot all spoke (And she even tried to speak a little Spanish which was very cute) and there is nothing like hearing talks from the apostles and authorities from the church. The theme was very obvious, that all youth need to serve missions, the importance of temple work, keeping the sabbath day holy, and to strengthen the family within the home. I wrote down a few quotes but I translated them back to English so I hope they sound okay! 

"Are we true believers?"

Holaaa! 

This week has been absolultely crazy! With ward activities, lessons, and TRANSFERS! Yes I finally had transfers after 3 months of being back in the mission! I´m in the same area and my new companion, or not so new companion is Hermana Winfield! What is super insane is that she was my companion in the MTC. It is a crazy coincidence but really cool at the same time. It has been almost a year since we were both in the MTC and we have both grown and have learned so much in the past year! 

This week we have also had the oppurtunity to help a sister in the ward with some of the problems that she is going through with her family and with her husband. She was at the point of leaving her husband completely but then came to us and through a lot of love, support, and with the help of the Spìrit, we were able to give her comfort and peace. The experiences and testimonies that we shared helped her to stay with her family and try to work things out!

 

We are not perfect, but we can trust in God with all our hearts, and with his divine guidance we can never take the wrong path. If we are doing all we should be doing, He will not let us go down the wrong path or fall. This week was also a testimony builder to me that The Lord puts the right people in the right places in our lives for a reason and when it is needed. Either these people bless our lives or we in return can be that blessing for someone else. And the smallest of acts or the tiniest of conversations can bring about miracles in the lives of others! 

The church is so true and the Gospel is so good!

This past week was another hard and discouraging week. Yesterday, the mom of Erica (one of our investigators) passed away. And not a week ago, her aunt passed away too. We passed by her house this morning to share a scripture with her and give her some comfort but to my suprise, we found her to be totally at ease. We shared the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants about those who die without a knowledge of the gospel and that they have the opportunity to accept the gospel in the Spirit World and obtain Celestial glory. I felt prompted to share my own experience about my Grandma Dot and how when she passed away that how special was the day when I was able to do her baptism and the rest of her work in the temple. These things were so close to home for me and my heart truly broke for her. But the Spirit was so strong and truly testified the truthfulness of the things that we taught. With everthing that has happened in so short amount of time, she is just as strong as ever and instead of stopping she is already up and running. She is truly such an example to me and is so strong.

 This week I really questioned why the best of people have the hardest lives and I came to discover that it is all in accordance to the magnitude of our faith. If we are strong, of course we will have to go through great trials. How can we ever be strong in the first place without them? The Scriptures literally are perfect. Just like it says in 3 Nephi 18 that if build our houses on a firm foundation instead of sand we will never faltar or be carried away. The key is  to always be strong, firm, and ready for whatever comes our way. Now is the time to be already prepared.
